The studio
I am lucky because the attic of my house is spacious enough, so I could set up my studio there. Large space and good lighting through big windows is important if I would like to work on paintings of many meters in diameter.
Music is very important in my art, it really inspires me when I’m working. Sometimes I paint about the classical music piece I have been listening to for days. Creating an image from sounds is very exciting, but also very challenging.

Preparations
The success of a painting lies in good preparations. During the steps of a thorough preparation I get very excited, it is difficult to resist the temptation to start painting right away.
Experience is very important at this phase. I have to design the composition carefully because this sets the tone of the first layer in different areas of the canvas.
Oh, and let’s not forget about a nice apron that has an easy-to-wash plastic coating.

Painting equipment
Many people think of the palette what you can see in movies. I have a table with a glass palette top, which is very practical and easy to clean.
Brushes are not the only tools an artist uses, you can use anything from painting spoons to combs to apply paint. In order to achieve special effects, one may use a number of tools in the same area.

Washing brushes is a hateful thing
The only thing I dislike in painting is washing brushes. If possible, I let someone else do it, but others also hate this task as much as I do.
Sadly, this last step cannot be postponed, because brushes are no longer useable if the paint dries. And art paint brushes are very expensive.
